Revenue is more than a concept, it is a Rally Cry!

When I was researching my first book, Flying Colours in the fall of 2019, I interviewed hundreds of travel advisors. The responses followed a pattern that persists today. It follows three words:
1. Fun: The industry is choc full of fun – “I love my job” can routinely be seen on social posts within the community as advisors travel for work and pleasure.
2. Fulfilling: Advisors also feel fulfilled helping make travel dreams come true for the clients they serve.
What I did not hear enough of was the other “F” word – financially rewarding.
3. NOT financially rewarding - “It is too much work for the money”
Enter the pandemic and the high costs associated with servicing clients for little or no return, high cancellations and economic uncertainty.
We can no longer run and grow a travel business without turning around the third belief that a travel business can and must be financially rewarding.
The best way to create a fun, fulfilling and financially rewarding travel business is to build your team upon a foundation of truth: Revenue is a force for good.
Revenue creates the opportunity to offer more and better vacations to a steady stream of high-value customers who come back again and again.
Revenue creates a community of like-minded travellers who understand and appreciate travel as an investment.
Revenue attracts and grows top talent in our industry.
When you build your team based on a foundation of revenue as a rally cry, you attract professional advisors who value their work, and in turn create lifetime customers for themselves and your business.
How do you position revenue in your agency?
How do advisors struggle to see revenue, profit or even the conversation around money as a challenge?
I’d love to hear your stories on how to make your team stronger by delivering all three: fun, fulfillment, and a financially rewarding business.
